Farmers Market 2010 to begin Tuesday May 4th and run to October12. New this year will be “Arts In The Park” each week.
Beardstown Main Street and Farmers Market Growers and Artisans meet March 30 and decide on new ideas for 2010 Farmers Market.
Beardstown, Illinois April 8, 2010: At a meeting held March 30 at the Golden Age Center in Beardstown the Beardstown Main Street Organization and area growers and artisans discussed the various upcoming changes to the 2010 farmer’s market format.
The first change will be the move from Friday to Tuesday 3 to 6 P.M. This move was made after finding the local market in competition with markets in larger communities and some smaller markets being held earlier in the day. The local group feels that by holding the event earlier in the week will consistently aid in gaining access to more growers with larger amounts of produce.
The second change is the inclusion of artisans on a weekly basis. Main Street hopes to showcase local and area artisan in the park on a weekly basis. Arts and crafts including the performing arts will be welcome each Tuesday from 3 to 6 P.M.
Yearly and Weekly rates for both growers and artisans available as well as discounted rates for artisans who only wish to display their art.
The following rates will apply throughout the year;
1. $5.00 per day for those coming on an intermittent weekly basis
2. $60.00 per year for those coming on yearly basis and who wish to lock in their location.
3. $1.00 per day for those artisans who wish to only display their art
4. All produce including baked and canned goods must meet the Department of Public Health standards
5. All produce must be Illinois grown, products and artwork, must be Illinois produced and/or made.
